The Dragoon

The variety of pigeons known as the English Dragoon existed in England in the Seventeenth Century.  There is a similar appearance between the Dragoon and the Homer.  The Dragoon is a much more refined, smooth wattled bird, nearer in appearance to the modern Homer than to the Horseman.  The Dragoon had a rather heavy wattle with a prominent eye cere and a thick heavy beak.  A short and thick neck with protuding wing butts in a characteristic of the Dragoon that can be recoginized in the modern Homer if the modern example of the Homer is heavily wattled bird.  The Dragoon had very good plumage but no pronounced flying ability.
