The Carrier

The English variety of pigeon known as the Carrier, being a direct descendant from the Horseman, had the flying ability of the Horseman at the time that it was used to cross breed into the modern Homer, but this flying ability does not now exist in modern examples of the English Carrier.  This bird is a long-necked heavy wattled bird with a heavy eye cere.  The wattle on the Carrier is also on the under mandible of the beak.  The present Homers that are long of face and develop a heavy wattle with age, including some wattle on the under mandible of the beak, show close relationship to Carrier ancestry.  The Carrier had a lng body with long legs and excellent plumage.  The bird also had a long lean neck.  The Carrier is the bird with the largest body of any of those used to breed the modern Homer.
